The American Hip Hop Break Dancer, DJ, and Record Producer, Tony Touch was born on July 2, 1969. He is 54 years old today. His presence in Hip Hop dates back in the 1980s. Tony Touch  is credited  with 5 studio albums and many mixtapes and collaborations with prominent Hip Hop artists.

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five released their mainstream studio single The Message on July 1 1982 by SugarHill Records. In 1982, the song was ranked as  number 1 Track of The Year. The song transformed Hip Hop from the house parties to concepts about social issues. It is one of the most influential rap songs of all time  and it's been sampled by many Hip Hop artists including Puff Daddy,  Ice Cube,  Coi Leray and others.

The Virginia native, Melissa Arnette Elliott, professionally known as Missy Elliott was born July 1, 2023. The rapper/singer  and producer started as a member of an R&B group Fayze, renamed Sista, in the early 90s. She later became a member of Mob Swing, an R&B collective group formed by DeVante of Jodeci together with her neighbourhood friends Timbaland and Magoo. In 1995, Mob Missy left Mob Swing and started working with Timbaland as songwriting-production team. They wrote and produced many songs for several artists including SWV, Aaliyah, Total, Destiny's Child, MC Lyte, Puff Daddy (Diddy) etc Missy Elliott has released 6 studio albums so far and has won 4 Grammy awards.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of PE's (Chuck D and Flavor Flav) sophomore studio album It Takes A Nation Of Millions to Hold Us Back which was released on June 28 1988 by Def Jam Recordings and Columbia Records. The album was certified platinum and gold in the US and UK respectively. The album has been cited by music critics and publications as one of the greatest and most influential recordings of all time.  It features the hit singles "Rebel Without A Pause, Bring The Noise,  Don't Believe The Hype, Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos etc
