Biggie's "Life after Death" album was released March 25 1997, 16 days after he was shot The Notorious B.I.G's second and final studio album, Life After Death, was released on March 25, 1997 by Bad Boy Records and Arista Records. The album is a sequel to his first album, Ready To Die and was released sixteen days after he was shot and killed. It charted no.1 on the US Billboard 200 and includes guest artists such as Puff Daddy, Mase, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Too Short, The Lox, Lil Kim etc.

Phife dawg (member of a Tribe called Quest) died march 22 2016, RIPThe New York based rapper, Malik Taylor, commonly known as Phife Dawg died on 22 March, 2016 at the age of 45, due to complications of diabetes. Phife was a member of the alternative Hip Hop group, A Tribe Called Quest with Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White. He was also known as Phife Diggy.


Above the rim, the soundtrack was released March 22 1994The soundtrack of the movie Above The Rim was released on 22 March, 1994 by Death Row Records and Interscope Records. Singles from the soundtrack include Regulate by Warren G and Nate Dogg, Afro Puffs by Lady of Rage and other songs by 2Pac, SWV etc. The production of the project was supervised by Dr Dre.

The New York Hip Hop duo Kool G Rap & DJ Polo released their debut album, Road to the Riches on March 14, 1989 on the label, Cold Chillin' Records. The album is considered as one of Hip Hop classic albums. It features the hit singles, Road to the Riches and Truly Yours.


2Pac released "me against the world" March 14 1995
2Pac released his third solo album Me Against The World on March 14, 1995 on Interscope Records with Dear Mama as the first single.  The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 for 4 consecutive weeks. It was released while 2Pac was serving jail time in prison.

Common was born March 13 1972The Chicago native and Soulquarian member, Lonnie Rashid Lynn popularly known by his stage name as Common (formerly Common Sense) was born on March 13, 1972 at a hospital in Chicago's Hyde Park. His debut album, Can I Borrow A Dollar? was released in 1992, but he became more popular with his 1994 studio album, Resurrection. He has maintained his prominence since.



Kid n' play released "funhouse" March 13 1990
The New York City Hip Hop duo Kid N' Play released their sophomore and last but one album, Funhouse on March 13, 1990 via Select Records. The album features Salt-N-Pepa and it was certified as gold.

Craig Jamieson Mack, May 10,1970 - March 12, 2018 (Aged 47)

The New Jersey based rapper and record producer, Craig Jamieson Mack,  better known by his stage name Craig Mack died on March 12, 2018 from heart failure at a hospital in Walterboro, South Carolina. He became very popular as a hardcore rapper in the early 90s when he was signed to Puff Daddy's (P. Diddy) label,  Bad Boy Records under which he released his 1994 debut studio album,  Project: Funk Da World, which was successfully acclaimed. He is known for his 1994 hit,  Flava in Ya Ear. He released 3 albums and was featured in several hit singles.


Geto Boys released "GRIP IT! ON THat oTHER LEVEL" MARCH 12 1989
The Houston  based horrorcore rap group, Geto Boys released their second album,  Grip It! On That Other Level, on March 12, 1989, through Rap-A-Lot Records.

The movie "cb4" was released March 12 1993
CB4, an American Hip Hop comedy, directed by Tamra Davis was released on March 12, 1993. The movie stars Chris RockCharlie MurphyAllen Payne, Deezer D etc.

 The Notorious BIG passed on March 9, 1997. Rise In Power 👑

The Notorious BIG, May 21, 1972 - March 9, 1997 (aged 24)

The beloved New York, Bed Stuy rapper, The Notorious BIG aka Biggie Smalls, is gunned down on the streets of Los Angeles by an unidentified assailant in a drive-by shooting on March 9 1997 at around 12 : 45am, while promoting his sophomore album Life After Death. He died at the Cedar-Sinai Medical Centre at 1:15am at the age of 24. Bigge was very prominent in the 90s East Coast Hip Hop and is considered one of the Greatest MCs of all Time. 




AZ was born March 9, 1972

The New York rapper Anthony Cruz,  known by his stage name AZ was born on March 9, 1997. He is known for being a long time and frequent rap partner of fellow East Coast rapper, Nas. In 1996, he was a member of the rap group, The Firm together with Nas, Foxy BrownCormega and Nature on Dr Dre's label, Aftermath Records. His debut studio album,  Do Or Die was released in October 1995 by EMI Records. He has released 9 studio albums from 1995 to 2021.

Chingy was born March 9, 1980

The St.Louis native and the "Right Thurr" hit maker, Chiny was born on March 9, 1980 as Howard Earl Bailey Jr. He toured with Nelly as an opening act in 2002 and was signed by Ludacris to his Disturbing Tha Peace record label. His debut studio album,  Jackpot was released in 2003. Chingy has released 5 studio albums as at 2010.

Hard To Earn is the fourth studio album by the hip hop duo Gang Starr (DJ Premier and Guru). The album was released on March 8 1994 by Chrysalis and EMI Records. The album featured the hit singles Mass Appeal,  DWYCK and Code of the Streets.


The film, New Jack City, was released on March 8, 1991

The American crime movie, New Jack City, directed by Mario Van Peebles as his film directorial debut, was released on March 8, 1991. The film stars Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown and also Ice T, Chris Rock and Mario Van Peebles.

He has released 6 studio albums from 2000 to 2012 and also started the rap group, State Property with other Roc-A-Fella members including Freeway, Young Gunz, Peedi Crakk, Oschino, Omillio Sparks etc. He also starred in several films including Paper Soldiers, State Property the movie, Backstage etc
